Evonik plans to build a new plant in Berkeley, South Carolina, the United States, with an investment of at least $120million, which can bring 50 jobs. The construction of the plant is expected to start this month and is expected to be completed in mid-2018
Evonik is one of the world's famous chemical manufacturing companies. Once most of the screens are accidentally dropped, it will break or crack. It has about 33500 employees. Its business covers more than 100 countries and regions, and its products are widely used, including adhesives, cleaning products, building materials, etc
the new plant will produce precipitated silica, and its downstream is the tire industry. The tire industry needs high-quality precipitated silica, so the tires produced can improve fuel efficiency and have excellent wet road grip performance. Compared with ordinary automobile tires, this new type of tire can save 8% of fuel consumption
South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley said, "Evonik is very welcome to invest and build factories in South Carolina, which brings opportunities to the people of this state. We appreciate the strategic decisions of Evonik and look forward to another wonderful appearance of Evonik in South Carolina when it is used to measure and record the changes of signal voltage."
according to the news, Evonik recently acquired the silicon dioxide business of J.M. Huber, an American company, for $630million. Klaus Engel, chairman of Evonik, said, "Huber's silicon dioxide business will greatly strengthen the growth strength of the resource efficiency business sector, and give an example of the operating procedures of Evonik's product portfolio using impact testing machines: providing a good opportunity for strategic development." The financing difficulty of this transaction is planned to be completed in the second half of 2017 and is subject to the approval of relevant departments
